The proportionate contribution of gross total income of top 1% individual taxpayers vis-à-vis all individual taxpayers has decreased from 15.9% in AY 2013-14 to 14.6% in AY 2021-22.
The proportionate contribution of gross total income of bottom 25% individual taxpayers vis-à-vis all individual taxpayers has increased from 8.3% in AY 2013-14 to 8.4% in AY 2021-22.
The proportion of gross total income of middle 74% group of individual taxpayers increased from 75.8% to 77% in the above period.
The average gross total income for individual taxpayers increased from about Rs. 4.5 lakh in AY 2013-14 to about Rs. 7 lakh in AY 2021-22 representing an increase of 56%.
The increase in average gross total income for top 1% individual taxpayers is 42% while that for bottom 25% individual taxpayers is 58%.

291% increase in ITRs filed by individual taxpayers with gross total income of Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 25 lakh from AY 2013-14 to AY 2021-22
Data further indicates increase in net direct tax collections from Rs. 6.38 lakh crore in FY 2013-14 to Rs. 16.61 lakh crore in FY 2022-23

A special National Investigation Agency court in Delhi today sentenced 10 years of imprisonment to Syed Maqbool. He was one of the accused in the Indian Mujahideen conspiracy case. He was previously convicted on September 22 by the special judge of the NIA special court in the city. He is the fifth accused among the total of 11 against whom sentence has been pronounced.Resident of Nanded, Maharashtra, Maqbool was arrested on Feb 28 for his involvement with members of Indian Mujahideen based in Pakistan and India and involvement in the crime and conspiracy. It has been revealed that the accused maintained close ties with key figures of the Indian Mujahideen, including Riyaz Bhatkal, who is based in Pakistan, and Imran Khan and Obaid-Ur-Rehman, who are located in India.

FTX collapse: Sam Bankman-Fried could take stand at fraud trial over FTX collapse
Sam Bankman-Fried could take the stand at his fraud trial as soon as Thursday, when prosecutors are set to finish presenting their case accusing the founder of now-bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX of stealing billions of dollars from customers.
Defense lawyer Mark Cohen said in a court hearing on Wednesday that Bankman-Fried would testify in his own defense, a risky move that would give prosecutors the chance to cross-examine the 31-year-old former billionaire about testimony from former close colleagues that he directed them to commit crimes.
Prosecutors called their final planned witness, FBI agent Marc Troiano, when the trial resumed on Thursday morning in federal court in Manhattan after a week-long break. Cohen said the defense plans to call three brief witnesses before Bankman-Fried takes the stand.
